Postdoctoral Associate in Child & Adolescent Health
Columbia University New York, Department of Pediatrics
United States

Summary Description

A post-doctoral position is open at Columbia University to investigate the neurodevelopment of stress-resiliency circuits in a mouse model. Projects focus primarily on how individual variability of brain circuits develops in a normal inbred rodent population (i.e. no early life stress is used). Based on identified neurocircuit differences in adult mice, current emphasis is on the limbic system, including the amygdala and the prelimbic to amygdala pathway. However, we are also using data-driven whole-brain approaches to uncover other relevant circuits. Techniques include but are not limited to: mouse behavioral analyses, immunohistochemistry, array tomography, viral-mediated neuroanatomy, inducible viral or transgenic systems for activity-dependent labeling, ex vivo light-sheet and confocal microscopy, chemogenetics, optogentics, slice physiology, and in vivo imaging of single cell activity using miniscopes.

Minimum Degree Required

Successful candidates will hold (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in neuroscience or related field and should be available to start between November 2018 and January 2019.

Minimum Qualifications

candidates with skills in either neurocircuitry (e.g. optogenetics, miniscope imaging, electrophysiology) OR computational (e.g. superior programming skills in any language, machine learning, graph theory) backgrounds. Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be highly self-motivated and collegial, and be able to work independently.
