Postdoctoral Position for Research on HIV Persistence and HIV Cure
KU Leuven Molecular Virology and Gene Therapy

Research in the lab focuses on the interaction between retroviruses and their host. Breakthrough research in recent years identified LEDGF/p75 and transportin-SR2 as cellular cofactors of HIV integratin and nuclear import. Christ et al., Nature Chemical Biology 2010. De Rijck et al., Cell Reports 2013. Demeulemeester et al., Cell Host Microbe 2014. Vranckx et al, Ebiomedicine 2016 Present research focuses on the role of integration site selection for the transcriptional state of the virus. This research has an impact on the development ogf novel strategies to cure HIV infection. The lab collaborates with various labs in the field. Techniques used: integration site sequencing, bDNA imaging, bio-informatics, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, drug discovery. Funding in the context of a new, high profile interuniversity grant on HIV Cure.
