Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 with a discretionary range to £43,267 p.a.


We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Molecular Endocrinology to work in the newly established Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Oxford Centre for the Endocrinology of Human Lactation, which is headed by Dr Fadil Hannan at the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health, University of Oxford.

 

You will investigate the role of the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) and its signalling pathways in the regulation of mineral homeostasis during lactation. The purpose of this research is to characterise the molecular endocrinology of lactation and provide fundamental insights into G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signalling. Your primary responsibility will be designing and implementing projects to define the molecular mechanisms for CaSR signalling in cellular models and in pre-clinical in-vivo models. This will include preparing research articles, presenting data and collaborating with the wider team.

 

You will have a doctorate (or be close to completion) in molecular biology, human genetics, biochemistry or a closely related field, in addition to an enthusiasm for, and demonstrable knowledge of, the key questions and recent developments in cellular signalling, gene regulation, epigenetics and the genomics field with particular relevance to calcium metabolism and/or GPCR biology. Relevant laboratory experience in genetics, mammalian cell culture, transfection of mammalian cells and cellular signalling assays are essential in this role, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, international team. Experience with studying pre-clinical models would be an advantage.
