Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Chemical Biology of Hypoxia-Inducible Factors (HIFs) and Related Proteins (2 posts)

NDM Research Building, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

We are seeking to appoint up to two talented and experienced Postdoctoral Research Scientists to join Professor Fraydoon Rastinejad’s new research group located at the NDM Research Building to study the Hypoxia-Inducible Factors (HIF-alpha) proteins and related factors. The inter-disciplinary research goals require skills in implementing high-throughput ligand discovery methods (chemical screening methods based on the protein thermal-shift assay, or mass-spectrometry, Lanthascreen, or other methods), biochemical/biophysical studies of proteins binding to small-molecule ligands (SPR, ITC, MST), molecular biology methods (cloning/expression/purification of proteins) and cell-based analyses (mammalian cell-culture based gene-profiling studies, siRNA knock-down studies, genomic and proteomic analyses, etc), The successful candidates will be required to have demonstrated strength and expertise in several of those areas.

You will manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, and co-ordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. In addition you will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols and test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate.

You must hold or be close to completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. This full-time position is fixed-term until 30 April 2022.

Further particulars, including details of how to apply, can be obtained from the document below. Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will required to upload your CV and supporting statement as part of your application.
