Summary Description

Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons is a vibrant, growing department that seeks to provide the most exciting environment for cutting edge science, is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position to study mitochondrial complex I (CI) biogenesis in the Owusu-Ansah lab in the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics.

The successful candidate will be part of a team working to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which putative CI regulators we have identified in genetic screens regulate CI biogenesis; and how interfering with CI biogenesis impacts various metabolic disorders and ultimately aging.



Minimum Degree Required

MD or Ph. D



Minimum Qualifications

Must have Ph.D., M.D.



Preferred Qualifications

Enthusiastic and motivated applicants; should have a strong background in biochemistry and extensive experience performing mitochondrial assays and/or in Molecular Biology. Prior experience working with fruit flies is desirable, but NOT required. Applicants must be willing to learn new skills as required for their projects.
