Summary Description

The Molecular Imaging and Neuropathology Division (MIND) in the Department of Psychiatry at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research scientist to work on 2-3 of the following research projects: 1) a federally-funded longitudinal study of suicidal behavior examining suicidal subtypes using ecological momentary assessment and biobehavioral tasks; 2) a foundation-funded trial examining efficacy of a brief intervention to prevent suicidal behavior; 3) a federally-funded evaluation of effectiveness and implementation of best practice assessment and intervention of suicidal outpatients in New York Stat. MIND is dedicated to innovative research on suicidal behavior, self-injury, and depression. Postdoctoral appointments have a three year limit. 
Responsibilities for this position include:

• Study coordination and oversight of all study procedures 
• Tracking and maintaining contact with study participants
• Supervision of data collection and management
• Supervision of research assistants and student volunteers
• Conduct brief suicide prevention interventions in emergency department and inpatient settings
• Assist with the development and provision of suicide prevention trainings
• Preparation of regulatory reports and IRB material
• Assistance with data analysis and interpretation
• Preparation of manuscripts for publication
The position offers the opportunity to become part of one of the leading suicide research teams, to develop a research program, to publish manuscripts using newly collected and existing data sets and to interact with a broad range of expert faculty.



Minimum Degree Required

Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or related field



Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and/or background in research of suicidal behavior or related areas of research or translational research in a related field, some clinical experience and good statistical skills. Qualifications include: 1) proficiency in statistical analysis programs including SPSS or SAS; and 2) strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.



Preferred Qualifications

Prefer some content knowledge of suicide research and clinical experience with suicidal individuals;
