Postdoctoral Researcher in Enteric Neurophysiology
Catholic University of Leuven Laboratory of Enteric NeuroScience
Belgium

The Laboratory of Enteric NeuroScience (LENS) University of Leuven, Belgium is currently hiring: Postdoctoral Researcher / PhD student in Enteric Neurophysiology

Responsibilities

The enteric nervous system is acomplex network of neurons and glia embedded in the intestinal wall. In thisproject, we aim to identify specific circuits in the two layers of the ENS (thesubmucous and myenteric plexus) that are activated in response to luminalstimuli (nutrients, commensal and infectious bacteria). Using optogenetictechnology in combination with commercial and custom-built imaging systems thatsimultaneously provides overview and detail, we will explore the pathways thatare switched on by intestinal contents (nutrients, caustic agents, microbiota)and examine whether they converge onto the local and/or extrinsic signalingpathways.
