We are looking for a Postdoctoral researcher in Care Sciences. The employment as a postdoctoral researcher is financed in full by the Foundation Anna Ahrenberg’s fund (Stiftelsen Anna Ahrenbergs Fond).

Care Sciences focus on a person’s experiences of ill health, disease and suffering, partly in connection with recovery, the maintenance and promotion of health and on another hand in connection with the biological body and socio-cultural structures. In Care research, the person’s learning process is a central part, including how the care is organised.

Job assignments

The position gives the holder the possibility to freely shape, deepen and further develop his/her scientific knowledge and skills in the field of Care Sciences. The activities are divided between the candidate’s own research (80%) and teaching (20 %). Continuing professional development is offered, such as courses in teaching and learning in higher education, in the pursuit of pedagogical qualifications.

Eligibility

An achieved doctoral degree in the relevant discipline is compulsory for a position as postdoctoral researcher. Since the position as a postdoctoral researcher aims to give new holders of a doctorate the opportunity mainly to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree no older than 3 years counting from last date of application. A person who has taken a qualification earlier, may be eligible should there be specific reasons (such as leave due to sickness, military service, certain trust assignments, parental leave or similar circumstances). Should the applicant refer to special circumstances, these must be proven in the application.

Assessment

The applications will be assessed on the basis of scientific skill. When assessing the scientific expertise, special attention is paid to the quality of your research in the Care Sciences or from a similar field, and which primarily is documented by your doctoral thesis and cited publications.

The quality of the candidate’s project plan and its feasibility for completion within 2 years will be significant in the selection process. In order to be able to provide an appropriate research environment, it is an advantage if your project proposal fits in with the Institute’s current research fields, please see https://caresci.gu.se/forskning. We are also happy to receive applications from candidates who have defended their thesis at another institution or university. Documented participation in national and international research networks is a merit.

When selecting a qualified applicant, the applicant shall be selected who, after an overall assessment of expertise in the actual field, is considered to have the best conditions to perform the duties, collaborate with other staff and contribute towards a positive development of the activities.

The candidate will be chosen after an overall assessment of his/her expertise in the actual field and further on the basis of his/her ability to carry out the duties, collaborate with other staff and contribute towards a positive development of the activities at the Institute.

Personal characteristics such as collaboration skills (both within the organisation as well as externally), flexibility and ability to independently pursue tasks will be considered in the evaluation of the candidate’s suitability for the position.

Employment

The employment is a temporary position for 24 months at 100%. You will be based at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences.

Access: as soon as possible or according to agreement.
