Position description


The Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to study the immunological aspects of radiation exposures in the laboratory of Dr. Schaue. The assigned NIH-funded project is focused on understanding myeloid cell biology after whole body and partial body radiation exposures and dissect the link to late tissue damage. This position requires a Ph.D. in biology, radiation biology, immunology or related medicine field with good English communications kills. Experience in immunological assays such as ELISAs, ELISPOT, RNAseq, and flow cytometry are preferred.

Specific Responsibilities include: study design, data acquisition & analysis, literature review and manuscript preparation and presentation at national and international meetings; helping to supervise graduate and undergraduate student researchers and assisting with the preparation of grant proposals.

Additional Duties:• Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively.• Ability to work independently on scientific projects.• Required to communicate well with other scientists worldwide.• The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and a Senior Project Scientist and will successfully carry out experiments and analyze the data generated with minimal supervision.•
