Professor of general medicine

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual, international and focused on research, it also defines itself as a modern institution with a human face.

The University of Luxembourg, through its Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine, aims for excellence in biomedical research and training. “Specific training in general medicine” has in fact existed since 2004 in Luxembourg and has resulted in the training of nearly 180 specialists, most of whom are established in practice in the country. This training was integrated into the University since September 1, 2021, based on the Law of July 31, 2020 on the organization of specialized studies in medicine at the University of Luxembourg. It combines theoretical training in the form of weekly teaching seminars, and practical training through a residency program including rotations in hospitals (2 semesters) and in general practitioners’ offices (4 semesters).

Teaching is organized by a group of general practitioners and practical training is provided by a network of supervisors (different specialists and general practitioners) accredited by the Ministry of Health.

In this context, the University is recruiting a Professor of General Medicine (Full Professor or Assistant Professor in conditional pre-titularization).

Your role...

Academic activities at the University will be split between teaching responsibilities and research:

Teaching:
  • The holder will co-direct the DES in general medicine and will be responsible for the organization of the entrance examination for training, the establishment of the training plan for doctors in specialty training, semi-annual evaluation interviews , the organization of lessons, and heoretical, end-of-training evaluation, in conjunction with the supervisors.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating the general medicine module in the 5th semester of the Bachelor in medicine and will ensure the smooth running of the internship in a general medicine practice.

The incumbent will significantly practice general medicine in Luxembourg, either alone or in a medical center, and will intervene personally as an internship supervisor.

The distribution between the different activities (academic / research and professional) will be adapted according to the profile of the holder.
