Professor of general medicine Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual, international and focused on research, it also defines itself as a modern institution with a human face. The University of Luxembourg, through its Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine, aims for excellence in biomedical research and training. “Specific training in general medicine” has in fact existed since 2004 in Luxembourg and has resulted in the training of nearly 180 specialists, most of whom are established in practice in the country. This training was integrated into the University since September 1, 2021, based on the Law of July 31, 2020 on the organization of specialized studies in medicine at the University of Luxembourg. It combines theoretical training in the form of weekly teaching seminars, and practical training through a residency program including rotations in hospitals (2 semesters) and in general practitioners’ offices (4 semesters). Teaching is organized by a group of general practitioners and practical training is provided by a network of supervisors (different specialists and general practitioners) accredited by the Ministry of Health.
