Job DescriptionThe Department of Surgery, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), at the UAE University, invites applications for a Surgeon position with a primary focus on research. This position is ideal for an experienced and innovative individual dedicated to advancing surgical science, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Research Excellence Develop and lead an independent, high-quality research program in surgery or related fields. Secure external funding through grants and partnerships. Publish findings in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. Represent the department and institution at national and international conferences. 2. Collaborative Initiatives Foster multidisciplinary collaborations within the institution and with external stakeholders. Engage with researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to advance innovative surgical solutions. Actively contribute to the development of research centers and initiatives aligned with institutional goals. 3. Mentorship and Faculty Development Mentor junior faculty, and medical students in research, career development and academic success Provide guidance on grant writing, research methodologies, and publication strategies 4. Clinical and Educational Contributions Provide expertise in general surgery to support clinical services Contribute to the development and delivery of the medical school’s curriculum, particularly in research-related areas
Minimum QualificationAt least an MD or MBBS degree and certification of specialization and sub-specialization in their field by the American Board or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, or North America, with recognized advanced training in their respective subspecialty. A strong track record of funded research and high-impact publications Demonstrated experience in mentoring and faculty development Evidence of effective interdisciplinary collaboration
Preferred QualificationExpertise in translational research, surgical innovation, or related fields. Experience in developing and leading collaborative research programs. Academic rank of Professor is preferred
Excpected SkillsFamiliarity with international undergraduate and post-graduate medical exams such as USMLE and Canadian Qualifying Examinations. Knowledge of the operation/accreditation of graduate medical programs and certification/fellowship in North America, Australia, Europe, or the Arab Board is desirable.
