Post-Doctoral Researcher, School of Food and Nutritional Sciences 1 Year, Fixed-term, Whole-time Post Position summary The School of Food and Nutritional Sciences in the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, UCC is internationally recognised for excellence in education, research, and training programmes and is unique in Ireland for its commitment to food science and technology, food business, food biotechnology and food and health. The School of Food and Nutritional Sciences in UCC has been, and remains, majorly involved in national, international and industrial research programmes. It occupies a dedicated Food Science and Technology complex including an extensive food processing hall (cheese, bakery, beverage and muscle foods) and a range of specialised laboratory facilities (food packaging, sensory, shelf-life testing). Currently, Cereal and Beverage Science Research Group (CBSRG) consists of 1 Senior Research Coordinator, 2 Post-Doctoral Researchers, 10 PhD Students, and 3 Research Assistants. The state-of-the art analytical and processing facilities allow us to perform research at the highest scientific level. The CBSRG has just been successful in securing funding from EU - Horizon 2020-the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020). Hence, we are currently recruiting for the following Post-Doctoral Researcher for supporting the P.I.’s in research, reporting and managing activities in the area of cereal food fermentation and cereal food waste stream valorisation for which funding has been awarded for one year. Scientific knowledge on food processing through yeast, lactic acid and acetic acid bacteria fermentation would be an advantage. Post Duration: 1 year Salary: €37,873 - €45,041 p.a.
