Post-Doc Position 100%
Tumor Immunology Laboratory, Department of Medical Oncology, Department for BioMedical Research (DBMR), University of Bern, Switzerland
is looking for 01.11.2020 or as agreed upon limited time for 2 years (prolongation possible)
Our research group investigates the interaction of immune cells with leukemia and cancer stem cells. A special focus of our work comprises the analysis of so-called cancer stem cells. These cells are the origin of the disease and the main reason for relapse after initial response to therapy. Aim of our research is to improve and develop immunotherapies for cancer patients. Our research makes primarily use of syngeneic tumor mouse models and primary patient material. The position offers a brought insight into translational research starting from animal models to clinical application.
Challenge
We have an open position for a highly motivated Post-Doc in our lab. The focus of the work is the translation and validation of immune-related targets identified in pre-clinical settings towards clinical application. The aim of the projects will be determining the potency of targeting immune-related receptors on leukemia stem cells using monoclonal antibodies, bi-specific T cell engagers and CAR T cells. These translational research projects will provide opportunities to learn and use state-of-the-art techniques in immunology, molecular biology and stem cell biology.
Your qualifications
The successful applicant is expected to have a Ph.D. in biological sciences or related disciplines and experience in NK cell and T cell biology and immunological techniques (e.g. FACS, T/NK cell assays) as well as molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR and next-generation RNA sequencing. Experience with mouse handling and experimentation are desirable.
Your range
Young, dynamic team and attractive, varied working conditions.
