Research Assistant-Bioinformatician
Genetic and epigenetic regulation of heart development and regeneration
100%

The group of Nadia Mercader studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of heart development and regeneration. Using the zebrafish model and combining genetic manipulations with omic approaches, we investigate how cardiomyocyte proliferation is influenced by different cell types including fibroblasts and macrophages and how cardiac precursor cells acquire cell fate identity during development.

The group is located at the Institute of Anatomy, within the Medical faculty of the University of Bern. It is also embedded into the Cardiovascular research Cluster that includes several groups working at the University of Bern and University Hospital Inselspital. The Mercader group also has an affiliation to the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares CNIC.

Tasks
The candidate will support the group with bioinformatics analysis such us
  • Transcriptomic analysis (scRNA-seq, small RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics)
  • ATAC-seq, Cut&Run, CHIP-seq analysis
Requirements
  • Academic Degree: PhD
  • Training in bioinformatics, good knowledge in programming languages R and Phyton, previous experience in transcriptomics analysis
  • Background in life sciences, interest in biological questions
  • Previous experience with zebrafish omic approaches will be a plus
