About the role: This is an exciting time in the continuing development of the Faculty of Engineering and IT and UTS. The Faculty is building on its recent achievement of ERA 5 within Biomedical Engineering to establish a new School of Biomedical Engineering. The establishment of this new school provides a unique opportunity for a Head of School to shape the strategic direction of the University’s research and teaching within Biomedical Engineering. The School of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to provide strong leadership and drive the establishment of this new school within the Faculty of Engineering & IT at UTS. Responsibilities: As the Head of School, Biomedical Engineering, you will: Provide clear, strategic leadership including the establishment of a strategic vision and direction for the School in alignment with Faculty and University strategic objectives. Work collaboratively with other members of the Faculty leadership and the School to bring about a step change in the performance of the Faculty as a whole, across teaching and learning, research and engagement. Interact with other Schools within the Faculty to achieve the Faculty objectives and seek synergies with other faculties on cross disciplinary research, engagement and teaching. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Faculty strategic plan. Develop and maintain a quality assurance and continuous improvement framework. Manage financial and physical resources of the School, ensuring School and Faculty strategic KPIs and operating outcomes are achieved. This includes oversight and management of laboratory facilities in conjunction with technical staff to meet school requirements. To be successful in this role you will possess demonstrated knowledge in areas directly relevant to Biomedical Engineering, alongside strong leadership skills, the ability to establish and drive a strategic vision and action plan and achieve clear strategic objectives.
