Høgskolen i Sørøst-Norge ble etablert 1. januar 2016, og har om lag 16 000 studenter og ca. 1500 ansatte. Høgskolen er foreløpig organisert i åtte fakulteter, og har undervisnings- og FoU-virksomhet på åtte campus. Høgskolens hovedprofil er å tilby profesjonsrettete, arbeidslivsorienterte og samfunnsrelevante utdanninger, samt anvendt forsknings- og utviklingsarbeid.

Fakultet for helsevitenskap har et omfattende studietilbud blant annet innen fagområdene sykepleie, radiografi, optometri og synsvitenskap. Fakultetet har hovedsete i Drammen med fem institutter fordelt på tre campus, henholdsvis Drammen, Kongsberg og Vestfold.

Fakultetet tilbyr en rekke utdanninger på bachelor- og masternivå, samt et ph.d.-studium i Personorientert helsearbeid. I tillegg tilbyr fakultetet også omfattende forskning og oppdragsvirksomhet for offentlig og privat sektor.

Professor in Midwifery

A full-time position as Professor in Midwifery is available at the Faculty of Health Sciences from August 1st, 2016.

The position is affiliated with the Department of Nursing and the appointed candidate will report to the Head of Department. The place of employment will mainly be Campus Vestfold.

Responsibilities and duties

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out research, supervision and teaching in the field of midwifery.

The successful candidate will lead and initiate research, research supervision, teaching and mentoring of students, fellows and colleagues. The successful applicant is expected to be actively engaged in the midwifery field, to contribute to the further development of existing and new clinical academic partnerships, and to contribute to the development of national and international networks.

The area midwifery is central to the faculty’s Master program in Midwifery and the PhD program in person-centred health care. Person-centred healthcare research aims at taking the needs and values of the individual person as point of departure. It is expected that the appointed professor in midwifery will contribute actively to the development of this profile.

The position may be assigned lecturing and supervision tasks at the Faculty’s nursing and midwifery programmes, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Web-based training and technology-enhanced learning is an expanding part of university education and a prioritised area of development. The successful candidate is expected to supervise and teach students using online tools and digital media.

An ongoing reorganizing effort may affect the position’s responsibilities, duties and line of work.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will be a committed and resourceful professional with a PhD and strong evidence of research in midwifery, as well as the skills and experience to take responsibility for research and development in the field. The candidate should possess appropriate professional qualifications, including relevant experience as a Midwife. Proven experience in teaching and supervision will be emphasized.

For appointment as professor an academic level in accordance with established international or national standards is required. The applicant should possess pedagogical competence involving at least a half-year Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, or a shorter university college pedagogy course. Applicants who do not possess such pedagogical qualifications may be employed on the condition that they acquire such qualifications within three years of the date of their employment.

The successful applicant must have the ability to work independently and be motivated to share knowledge and collaborate. The successful applicant must be able to teach in English or one of the Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Swedish or Danish).

If no qualified applicants apply for a permanent position as professor, a temporary three-year appointment may be made if the expert committee consider that the person selected will be able to acquire the necessary qualifications to be appointed to a professorship within the first three years of employment. A new expert assessment will be completed by the end of this period.

For appointment as associate professor (førsteamanuensis), it is required that applicants hold a Norwegian doctorate within the relevant field, or equivalent foreign doctoral degree or qualifications at the same level documented by scientific production of equivalent scope and quality.

Salary

The position as professor (code 1013) is remunerated by agreement. [Position as associate professor (code 1011) is remunerated by salary grade 57-72, constituting NOK 483 700-640 700 per annum. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. Salary placement is dependent on seniority and competence.] A statutory contribution will be made to the state pension.

Additional information

The Academic Appointments Board is responsible for appointments to academic positions at University College of Southeast Norway. Applicants will be assessed by a group of experts appointed by the Faculty Dean. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews and must be prepared to present and discuss their projects in English.
