Adjunct Faculty Position in Clinical Research MCPHS University

The Department of Pharmaceutical Business and Administrative Sciences in the School of Pharmacy-Boston at MCPHS University seeks adjunct faculty with expertise in Clinical Research to teach in our graduate Masters of Science in Clinical Research Program. The on-campus courses are three-credit courses that consist of a three-hour weekly lectures. The Online courses also are three credits. Course development activities are anticipated to begin in July 2016.(Please see course descriptions listed below.)

  • Working with the Program Director, the adjunct faculty member provides course instruction and implementation of course activities for graduate students in the Masters of Science in Clinical Research program
  • Develop instructional materials and deliver classroom instruction according to an approved course syllabus using student-centered teaching methods.
  • Develop lesson plans and on-line content using the Blackboard LMS.
  • Advise and tutor students when required.
  • Maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records
  • Adjunct faculty are needed to teach in the Fall of 2016 as well as the Spring 2017.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Program Director.

Required:

  • A M.S., PhD, or equivalent degree with appropriate coursework and/or credits in the above areas
  • A minimum of five years' of practical experience
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program
  • Proficient skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer software systems that include word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations as well as a willingness to learn and use the Blackboard LMS
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and teaching methodologies
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Knowledge of student centered-teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and manage student requests
  • Ability to develop assessment tools to effectively assess student learning
  • Ability to develop learning objectives for each class in order to maximize student achievement

Course descriptions

Research Methodology and the Development of Protocols and Proposals -MCR 802A (On campus) and MCR 802 Online (Graduate Course)

Students will learn the elements required to develop a scientifically sound clinical protocol or research proposal. They will evaluate the processes required to develop a feasible and relevant research question, understand research methodology, and choose a study design.

Graduate Project in Clinical Research -MCR 804A (On campus) and MCR804 Online (Graduate Course)

Students will independently research and develop a clinical protocol and the accompanying study schema, data collection instruments, and informed consent document. Upon completion, they will present and defend their project to a review committee.

Conducting Clinical Research Studies(On campus)-MCR 803A Graduate Course: Conducting clinical research according to good clinical practices is key to the success of any clinical study. Students will learn the requirements for the successful conduct of clinical research from the FDA, IRB, industry sponsor, and clinical investigator perspectives.
