Professor of Medical Statistics London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Interview Date: To be confirmed This new professorial position is an exciting opportunity for an internationally established biostatistician to play a leading role in the largest UK academic centre for medical statistics. The appointee will be based in the School’s Department of Medical Statistics and should have a strong track record of methodological research with the ability to direct a stimulating and broadly based biostatistics research programme. A relevant PhD degree, along with an international record of excellence in research and publication is essential as well as an in depth understanding of statistical methods to enable the development of new knowledge in the field. Enthusiasm for collaborative applied research and postgraduate teaching is also desirable. The appointment is funded by Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. There are no restrictions on the specific areas of research to be pursued, although opportunities in biopharmaceutical research readily exist. The new professor will lead the development of a programme of research in statistical methodology, contributing to the activities of the School’s Centre for Statistical Methodology and developing collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers working in related disciplines. He/she will contribute to the School’s Masters teaching programme and contribute to the Faculty’s short course programme as well as supervising PhD and MSc students.
