Assistant Professor of Plant Biology University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine

Job Title: Assistant Professor. Higher ranks will be considered in exceptional circumstances.Duties: The duties of a faculty member include: a) educational activities; b) activities relating to the scholarship revealed by research; c) school service activities; d) supervision of students and graduate students. Preference will be given to researchers or researchers specialized in plant biology, particularly in one or more of the following areas: plant molecular biology, genetics and plant genomics, plant physiology, plant-microbe interactions. He or she will be part of a dynamic department over forty teachers working in the areas of biodiversity, cell biology, molecular, developmental and evolutionary, comparative physiology and ecotoxicology. The department also maintains collaborations with plant biology researchers at Agriculture Canada, the Canadian Museum of Nature and Carleton University. The Department has research and teaching greenhouses and the public well-equipped laboratories for molecular, microscopic and chemical analysis. The / the candidate (s) selected (e) will teach plant biology courses (eg introduction to plant biology, plant physiology, plant molecular biology.)   • Education: Doctorate Degree (or equivalent) in plant biology.
  • Work Experience: Excellent publication record in the field of plant biology.Commitment to education and graduate education. Priority will be given to candidates able to communicate effectively in French and English.
