Clinical researcher in Medical Genetics University of Antwerp, Center for Oncological Research

The Center for Oncological Research (CORE) and the Center for Medical Genetics from the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA) and the University of Antwerp (UA) are performing scientific research regarding the unraveling of the genetics of Neuro-Endocrine Tumours.

Within this collaboration, the research teams are currently looking for:

Clinical researcher for PhD project

Job Profile

The candidate will perform research aimed at unraveling the genetic background of neuro-endocrine tumours (NETS) with the goal of obtaining a PhD. The main focus will be the coordination and execution of an international multi-center cohort study on predictive markers for everolimus treatment, performing next-generation sequencing technology and digital droplet PCR on collected patient samples. You will join a fast-growing and very enthusiastic team, with an established and extensive international research and clinical network, including ENETS centers of excellence. During your research, you will work in close collaboration with several researchers from CORE, the Center for Medical Genetics and the Multidisciplinary Oncological Center Antwerp (MOCA).

Requirements

You have either recently obtained a master degree in medicine or you are a master in life sciences, biochemistry, biology, biomedical engineering or related discipline.
Successful candidates are highly motivated, like to work in an interactive research team, are capable of establishing new methods as required for the project and are willing to work on a PhD project starting from October 2016. Proficiency in English or Dutch is required.
