SCHOOL OF HEALTH STUDIES, FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES is seeking outstanding candidates for a PROBATIONARY (TENURE-TRACK) APPOINTMENT IN GLOBAL HEALTH
The School of Health Studies invites applications from exceptional, early-career investigators for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The School of Health Studies (http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/shs/), one of six schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences, is home to a large undergraduate Bachelor of Health Sciences program, and contributes significantly to the faculty-wide Health & Rehabilitation Sciences graduate program (http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/hrs/) and the recently launched Interfaculty Program in Public Health (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/publichealth/index.html). The School of Health Studies is a leader in the generation of contemporary and transformative knowledge with real-world impact in the areas of health and health care, which span a broad range of innovative research programs addressing the health of children, adults and elderly, and vulnerable populations. Our undergraduate curriculum provides students with foundational and specialized training in the personal and social determinants of health. The interdisciplinary focus of the School of Health Studies is unique in the Faculty of Health Sciences, making it an ideal place to learn about rapidly evolving health environments and diverse health-related experiences through an integrated, diverse set of disciplinary perspectives. Qualified applicants must have a PhD or equivalent, with training in a discipline related to health sciences that will facilitate improving global health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide, emphasizing translational health issues, determinants, and solutions. In particular, we seek applications from promising scholars with a research program that complements our existing research areas. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop collaborative relationships with a number of faculties and programs at Western, including the Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion (http://crhesi.uwo.ca/), Cluster of Research Excellence in Musculoskeletal Health (http://boneandjoint.uwo.ca/), Health Information Science, The Centre for Health Innovation and Leadership ( http://sites.ivey.ca/healthinnovation/) among others. Applicants must have a commitment to and evidence of the ability to provide high quality teaching in the classroom as well as mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
