commencing in October 2017. The Full Professor (W3) will be appointed Director of the Department of Internal Medicine III, Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
We are looking for a scholar of distinction with a high international reputation in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Close interactions with TUM Cells, TranslaTUM, the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) and the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich are requested. Coordinating applications for research networks (DFG, BMBF, EU) dealing with innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in cancer is expected.
The responsibilities as Director of the clinical department, including the associated right to bill additional fees, are to be regulated by head physician contract. Generally, a non-civil servant employment status is envisaged for the professorship. An exception might be possible if a professor has already been in a head physician position with tenured civil servant status (W3/C4) and the right to bill additional fees.
In addition to providing strong, committed leadership and inspiration in research, the candidate is expected to actively contribute to the ongoing development of the university’s research and teaching program, support the promotion of young scientists and participate in university boards and committees. Teaching assignments include courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
Prerequisites for the position are a university degree in medicine, a doctoral degree, teaching skills at university level, and additional academic achievements. Proof of possessing a medical license for Internal Medicine is required. The ability to teach in English is a prerequisite for TUM Professors.
