The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of a part-time (35 %) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR OF UROLOGY The position may be filled as assistant professor, associate professor or professor, depending on the candidates’ merits and career stage. The professorship in Urology is connected to the position of head of department at the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS). Separate applications must be submitted for the professorship and the position of head of department. The assistant professor / professor of Urology is responsible for undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education in the field. In addition, the professor participates in teaching in Surgery, including practical small-group teaching and lecture-based teaching. The professor’s duties also include carrying out and supervising scientific research, following developments in research in the relevant field and participating in societal interaction as well as national and international cooperation in the field. In addition, the professor’s duties include other tasks assigned to the unit. To ensure that the applicant’s ability to supervise theses and dissertations meets the requirements of the Faculty of Medicine, he or she must have completed the supervision of at least one doctoral dissertation. The practical experience required for the position can be demonstrated, for example, with a specialist’s degree or licence in the field. The salary will be based on level 7 (assistant professor) and levels 8-10 (professor) of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities.
