The Department of Clinical Sciences with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, invites applications for a specialty track faculty position in the Section of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Companion Animal Hospital.  Candidates must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine.  Board certification in the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is preferred but candidates who have recently completed an approved residency program in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation will also be considered.

 

The successful candidate will join one board-certified faculty member training one resident working in a comprehensive teaching and referral hospital with advanced facilities and equipment.  Responsibilities will be determined in accordance with the service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s areas of expertise within the specialty of sports medicine and rehabilitation.  Effort will be distributed among clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, didactic and laboratory instruction of veterinary students and house officers, teaching in the preclinical curriculum, and primarily collaborative research.  Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist at the College and University, including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City.

 

Clinical duties require foundational skills in evidence based medical diagnostics and treatment modalities frequently used in rehabilitation (i.e., underwater treadmill, manual therapy, TENS, NEMS, Laser, regenerative medicine).  The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with surgical and medical specialists regarding case management.

 

Salary and rank will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
