University of Copenhagen The University seeks to appoint a professor to the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology to commence as soon as possible. About the department The vision of the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology is to advance pharmaceutical sciences through multidisciplinary drug-related research from the molecular level to the clinic. The Department performs interdisciplinary drug-related research and research-based teaching and comprises 86 tenured staff, 29 postdocs and 82 PhD students. The department is organized in seven research sections, focusing on natural product research, organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry, bio-structural research, biopharmaceuticals, molecular and experimental pharmacology, and pharmacotherapy. The department is hosting the Center for Biopharmaceuticals and encourages extensive interactions and collaborations with pharmaceutical industry and biotech. The department supports a strong infrastructure and for example heads the Copenhagen Small-molecular NMR Centre. The section of medicinal chemistry is essential to the department and the university and currently the Medicinal Chemistry Research section comprises 21 tenured staff, organized into 14 research groups currently focusing on diseases in the central nervous system as well as targets relating to cancer, metabolism and infectious diseases. The section is also instrumental in the departmental medicinal chemistry program that is pivotal for medicinal chemistry at the University of Copenhagen and it also hosts the interfaculty international MSc education in Medicinal Chemistry.
