W3-Professorship in Biomedical Engineering University of Stuttgart, Institute for Biomedical Engineering
The professorship is connected to the management of the institute as well as to the co-ordinated management of the interuniversity institute for medical technology (IUM) of the universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen. The professorship is to represent the field of biomedical engineering in its entirety in teaching and research. This includes the holistic view of applications from the fields of biology, medicine, process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology and physics. Further aspects are the tasks of biomedical engineering in the health care sector, especially in hospitals. Research should include several imaging technologies, sensor technology, biomedical signal processing and medical devices for diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation. Close interdisciplinary cooperation within the two universities, with non-university research facilities and with the industry is expected. In addition to the management of the Bachelor / Master degree course in Medical Engineering, the teaching is also responsible for the subject of biomedical engineering in the courses of mechanical engineering, technical cybernetics, process engineering and technical biology. Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate outstanding scientific achievements in research, to work interdisciplinarily, to have distinctive didactic skills and to have relevant experience. In addition, experience in the management and motivation of a larger staff member as well as in the acquisition of research resources is necessary. The prerequisites for admission to Sections 47 and 50 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg apply.
