Professor for Biostatistics The Leibniz University of Hannover, Faculty of Natural Sciences
The professorship is to contribute to the establishment of new methods of statistical evaluation of high-dimensional data in molecular biology and genetics. An integral part is the corresponding provision of software packages - preferably in the object-oriented language R. In addition to the method development, an active engagement in the biostatistical consultation on the experimental planning and the analysis of large data is expected in the Faculty of Science. The acquisition of third-party funding at national and international level is expected. The professorship is to be an integral part of the collaborative project "Biostatistics in Molecular Biology and Genetics in Drug Research", to be established by the Leibniz University, Hanover Medical University, Hanover School of Biomolecular Drug Research and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research. Involvement in student teaching and the graduate schools of the Faculty is expected. Prerequisites for postgraduate studies include the promotion of outstanding scientific achievements in the field of biostatistics or in a related field, the management of a scientific working group, the biostatistical consultation of biologically oriented scientists and active third-party funding as well as the habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements. The tasks in general and the prerequisites for employment are defined by the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). Details will be provided upon request. On request, part-time employment can be made possible. The Leibniz University of Hanover has set itself the strategic goal of significantly increasing the proportion of women. Scientists are therefore strongly encouraged to submit their application. People with disabilities are preferred with equal qualifications. Applications from scientists from abroad are expressly desired. In addition to the international orientation of teaching and research, the mission statement of the Leibniz University of Hannover attaches great importance to the intensive consultation and support of the students and the integration of the university in the region and Lower Saxony. For this reason, the professors expect them to place their foodstuff in the Hanover region in order to promote this goal. Applicants who have already reached the age of 50 at the time of the intended appointment and who are not already in the employment relationship are, in principle, engaged in the employment relationship. To send the application documents in electronic form to e-mail dekanat@nat.uni-hannover.deis until 24/02/2017 asked.
