The Board of Electors to the Herchel Smith Professorship of Biochemistry invite applications from outstanding established investigators for this Professorship. The Herchel Smith Professorship of Biochemistry is one of two established and fully endowed Professorships within the Biochemistry department and is funded by a generous bequest from the eponymous Anglo-American Organic Chemist.
 

Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in their field. They will demonstrate the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to build on current strengths and developing a leading research presence within Biological Sciences, across the University and through broader collaboration. A PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification is essential.
 

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge.
 

The appointment comes with a substantial endowment and a start-up package to be negotiated, together with a competitive salary. The appointment will be from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
