The College of Pharmacy invites applications for a position of tenure-track Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacodynamics.  This position is a part of the University of Florida’s Preeminence initiative, with the goal of strategic faculty hires to further elevate our national academic and research standing to one of the top 10 public universities in the United States. 

The College of Pharmacy is seeking a visionary leaderfor the Department who is experienced in collaborative research partnerships and who will seize the opportunity as Chair to strengthen and expand its research vision for understanding mechanisms of disease and developing new therapeutics.  The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of research, teaching, scholarly accomplishments and leadership. S/he should also be an accomplished educator with experience in graduate education and in mentoring both junior faculty and graduate students.  The Chair will be expected to work with the department in a collaborative and transparent manner to promote overall interests and development of the department faculty, staff, postdocs, and students, and with the Dean and other leadership of the College of Pharmacy to fulfill its research, education and governance missions.

The department is highly integrative and collaborative, with a strong focus in cellular and systems physiology and pharmacology.  The new Chair will lead current faculty, and will help recruit additional faculty, to enhance and extend current research in the department. 

The College of Pharmacy has a strong commitment to attain even greater prominence among the top tier of pharmacy programs.  The College is located at the main campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, the flagship AAU academic research institution of the State of Florida.  The College is based in one of the largest integrated academichealth centers in the country, with Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine, as well as UF Health and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, situated on a university campus serving over 50,000 students. 

Advertised Salary:

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate field. Successful candidates will have a strong current funding record, a proven track record of publication in top journals, recognition as a current or emerging leader in their discipline, a demonstrated ability to establish or work effectively in interdisciplinary collaborations, and applicable administrative and management experience. Candidates are expected to maintain a strong extramurally-funded research program.

Candidates should have a distinguished record of research, teaching, and scholarly accomplishments.
