Ecological Statistician Research Associate Lab of Ornithology, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Cornell University
The Information Science and Technology Program at the Lab of Ornithology is currently seeking to hire an ecological statistician at the level of Research Associate to lead the analysis of data from a large biodiversity data set from the eBird citizen science project in order to estimate species distributions and relative abundances of the Western Hemisphere’s shorebird species across their full annual life cycles. The successful candidate will work within the existing SDM research team and be responsible for directing the development, deployment, and refinement of SDMs focused on shorebirds.
Additional activities include participating in weekly analysis meetings; working extensively with avian biologists in the Information Science and Technology, Bird Population Studies and Conservation Science programs to understand patterns of occurrence and distribution, as well as strategic and tactical pathways, for migrating birds; participate in a collaborative advisory role to lead research into the construction of SDMs for birds; promote interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration; participate in writing peer-reviewed publications, disseminating results at conferences, and the preparation of funding proposals.
