The School of Life Sciences invites applications for the post of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor in Marine Biology with prospect for substantiation.
Candidates showing excellence in any area of marine biology will be considered. Candidates interested in a professor position should demonstrate strong record of teaching and research, with a vision for leading cutting-edge research in marine biology.
The successful candidate is expected to (1) teach courses in marine biology and related disciplines, (2) develop a competitive research program with external grant support, and (3) collaborate with faculty in marine biology and/or environmental science. He/she will also be a member of the Simon F.S. Li Marine Science Laboratory (MSL), a facility in the School specifically equipped for laboratory and field studies of marine organisms. Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment. Promotion and substantiation of an assistant professor is normally considered during the sixth year of service. Outstanding candidate with substantial experience for an associate professor/professor post may be considered for substantive appointment forthwith.
