Chair in Cancer Immunotherapy The Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology is one of eight departments in the School of Medical Sciences within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (FMHS) at the University of Auckland. The department has expertise and academic interests in a number of fields including cancer biology, cancer genomics and leukaemia genetics. There are also very close links and collaborations with the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, an internationally recognisedcentre for cancer drug discovery and development. In addition, the department has close links with Auckland City Hospital, a tertiary hospital that provides Cancer and Blood services for the northern region of New Zealand (approximate referral base 1.5 million), and the Starship Children's Hospital, a national paediatric service including the national blood cancer and haematopoietic stem cell transplant service for children in New Zealand. Many academics hold joint appointments across both institutions. In this substantive, tenured position as Professor (or Associate Professor) of Cancer Immunotherapy, you will be responsible for leading and developing a cancer immunotherapy research programme, potentially in collaboration with colleagues in the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, the School of Biological Sciences, and Auckland City/Starship Hospitals. This is a new position, and it is anticipated that the Cancer Immunotherapy programme could include basic immunology through to clinical studies, potentially including cell based therapy strategies. The Chair may have a small fractional clinical appointment, further enhancing the clinical research profile of the department, school and faculty, however this is not essential.
