Reader (Honorary Consultant) in Thoracic Oncology

 

Applications are invited for the post of Reader (Honorary Consultant) in Thoracic Oncology. The successful applicant will work closely with the Director of the CRUK Cambridge Centre and the Aerodigestive Programme. In particular, this role will support the Department of Oncology (Head of Department: Prof Richard Gilbertson) in thoracic oncology; initiate, lead and support thoracic oncology research; enhance the multi-disciplinary aerodigestive cancer research team; and consolidate collaboration between the CRUK Cambridge Centre and new Papworth Hospital on the Biomedical Research Campus.

 

The successful applicant is expected to have a proven track record in thoracic oncology research as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and to contribute to the clinical service in respiratory medicine at Papworth Hospital.

 

While all areas of academic thoracic oncology will be considered, in line with the strategic objectives and scientific activities of the CRUK Cambridge Centre and Papworth Hospital, we are particularly interested in recruiting an individual with interests in early detection of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma. The Department of Oncology is based adjacent to Papworth Hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

 

Clinical duties will represent approximately 50% of the job plan. We welcome applications from those with relevant clinical expertise and offer particular opportunities for clinical academic development.

 

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or close to accreditation.

This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract with Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
