The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health at Aarhus University, Denmark, has an open position in the Section of Orthodontics for an Assistant Professor in Orthodontics. The position is a full-time position.



The employment is a fixed-term appointment (up to four years) with the possibility to qualify for an Associate Professor position during this period.



Preferential starting date is from September 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.



Responsibilities include developing an innovative strategic research agenda together with colleagues and external institutions, nurturing and leading excellent research activities, contributing to an inspiring education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, expanding external collaboration, and disseminating research findings.



The successful applicant is a research-oriented Specialist in Orthodontics with clinical experience and a strong and widely based understanding of the field. Moreover, knowledge in biomechanics and 3D craniofacial analyses are essential, together with an experience in interdisciplinary collaboration.



Applicants are expected to have a general academic profile in Orthodontics. The position requires 1-2 days per week supervision at the postgraduate clinic, collaboration with the clinical instructor’s team and the scientific staff and participation in meetings and seminars. The position also requires research-based teaching, both at postgraduate as well as at undergraduate level. The applicants are expected to conduct research also through external projects, thus experiences from successful research collaboration with international academia are preferred, and to participate in research supervision for undergraduate students in Dentistry and for postgraduate students in Orthodontics.



The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health has a QS-ranking of 17. The Section of Orthodontics is internationally recognized for its clinical and academic excellence, provides clinical and academic education, has state-of-the-art clinical facilities and offers an exceptional scholarly environment.



The Section’s research strengths include clinical, translational, and basic research in craniofacial development, biomechanics, 3D imaging, and treatment outcomes analysis. In addition, numerous opportunities are available for collaboration within the Department and the greater University community.



Candidates for this position should have a dental degree and a PhD or equivalent degree, as well as a certified specialist degree in Orthodontics. A record of teaching, clinical experience, and research is preferred and responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of orthodontic students, and scholarly activity.



Faculty practice opportunities will be available in the near future. 



The chosen candidate will have to qualify for the Danish “authorization to practice”, according to the rules from the Danish Health Authorities, if he/she does not hold these licenses already.

Appointment as an assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
