Postdoctoral Researcher in Epithelial Stem Cell Biology Karolinska Institutet, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB)

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

The Genander lab is interested in transcriptional regulation of developing epidermal stem cells, with a specific focus on ID transcriptional regulators. We work predominantly with mouse models and use conventional mouse genetics, in utero lentiviral injections, next generation sequencing and ChIP-Sequencing to evaluate in vivo alterations in gene expression and genome wide binding patterns of transcription factors. 

Duties

The project is focused on understanding the role of ID proteins in epidermal stem cells in the developing skin. We aim to understand how ID proteins influence the choice between stem cell self-renewal and differentiation in mouse models. We use in utero lentiviral injections, confocal microscopy, shRNA technology, RNA- and ChIP-Sequencing with the overall goal of understanding how ID proteins affect developing epidermal stem cells. 

Entry requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in biomedicine or related area. We expect the candidate to have a strong scientific background with relevant expertise in stem cell biology. Previous experience working with ID proteins in experimental settings is a requirement. Previous experience of in utero injections, lentiviral production and gene expression analysis is a strength. The applicant is expected to have expertise in basic cell and molecular methods such as cell culture, western blot and pcr. The working language is English, and the applicant is expected to be proficient in both spoken and written English. 

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
