The School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland invites applications for a clinical-track academic position in Diagnostic Imaging. The UQ Gatton campus is located in sunny South East Queensland, approximately 1 hour drive from the capital city of Brisbane and within 1.5 hours of the world-renowned Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions. Full-time and part-time options are available.Come and join the evolving diagnostic imaging team at UQ, including two board-certified radiologists (DACVR) and a board-eligible radiologist, supported by a radiographer and a veterinary technician. The University of Queensland's Veterinary Medical Centre, consisting of Small Animal and Equine Hospitals, has a solid, diverse clinical caseload and an exceptional multi-disciplinary team of clinical specialists and educators. The comprehensive diagnostic imaging service has modern, advanced facilities and equipment, including: Philips EPIQ 5, Philips IU33, GE vivid 7, and Esaote MyLab 30 ultrasound units, Fuji CR system and PACS (with anticipated DR and PACS upgrades in the near future), DR system (equine), Toshiba 16-slice mulidetector CT with large animal table and pressure injector, nuclear medicine suite, and plans for in-house MRI capability for small animals and horses. Potential exists for unique collaborative research opportunities with The University of Queensland's Centre for Advanced Imaging at the St. Lucia campus (http://www.cai.uq.edu.au).
The role
The position will promote and develop expertise in diagnostic imaging for companion animals, horses, and avian/exotic species; some flexibility is available to support individual clinical interests. The successful applicant will actively contribute to the clinical and didactic teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, residents and interns. A contribution to clinically-focused research and/or innovation in clinical practice, as well as a key role in engagement with the veterinary profession, is expected.
The person
Applicants should possess a BVSc (or equivalent) that is registrable in Queensland, together with specialty board certification (ACVR, ECVDI, or FANZCVS) in diagnostic imaging. Board-eligible candidates (recently completed or in the process of completing an accredited residency training program) are also encouraged to apply. Additionally, possession of a Research Higher Degree (e.g. MPhil, PhD) will be advantageous.
Remuneration
A full-time continuing appointment is available, at Academic Level B/C depending on applicant qualifications and experience. The base remuneration package will be in the range:
Level B- $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be $107,807.01 - $128,020.46 p.a.).
Level C- $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063.12 - 152,276.56 p.a.).
In addition, this position may attract a clinical loading. The University also offers a relocation allowance, research start-up funds, and annual financial support for continuing education. A work permit can be arranged for applicants from overseas.
All suitably qualified applicants will be considered, including those that may be interested in a part-time appointment/job share arrangement and a balance of outside work (e.g. teleradiology).
