Postdoctoral Exercise in Epigenetics KU Leuven, Epidemiology Research Group

The Epidemiology Research Group at the Faculty of Medicine (KU Leuven) examines the epigenetic aspects of early life exposure. Our interdisciplinary research team works with the Leuvens University Fertility Center (LUFC - UZ Leuven) and the Genomics Core, KU Leuven.

 

Whimsical project includes a longitudinal study -Epigenetic Legacy of Paternal Obesity (ELPO- where we collected data and samples from patient dying to have fertility treatment. Epigenetic properties are determined in sperm, embryos, and maternity, father and child tissues. Is to better understand the complex interaction between environments and to identify the (epi) genetic sensitivities for disease. The epigenetics can thus be used as a biomarker to estimate risks of chronic diseases.

 

You have a doctorate in the (Epi) Genetics, Bio Engineering, Bio Technology, Molecular or Cell Biology, ... or the like.

 

You are very motivated looking for an international career in Human Epigenetics.

 

You have extensive experience in one of the next generation sequencing technologies, such as Whole-Genome Bisulfite Sequencing Analyzes, Pyrosequencing, Infinium HumanMethylation450 analyzes.

 

You have already published a research report that proves your expertise in this area (publications, conferences, ...).

 

Language knowledge: English and Dutch.

 

You are familiar with statistical programs (R, SAS, SPSS, ...)

 

You are communicative and have good organizational skills.

 

You can find balance between performing experimental analyzes, statistical analyzes, literature studies, publications / granting applications, helping students, etc.

 

We offer a postgraduate scholarship for a certain period of time, renewable to 1 or 2 years.
