The Department of Medical Basic Sciences works to increase basic medicalknowledge so that we can understand normal processes, provide insight into mechanisms that cause disease and promote good health. The institute is responsible for the basic subjects of professional education in medicine and for the master's education in clinical nutrition, and has more than 300 employees in scientific, technical and administrative positions.
PhD position in clinical nutrition
A PhD candidate is available for 3 years at the Department of Medical Basic Sciences, Department of Nutrition Sciences, Section for Clinical Nutrition. The position is linked to the project "Exploring the health effects of salmon fishmeal: A combined dietary intervention, animal study, cell experiment and omics approach" . The main purpose of the project is to investigate the health effects of various components of salmon in different models. This announcement concerns the part of the project that will carry out a human clinical intervention study.
The project is a collaboration between UiO, Møreforsk, Marine Harvest and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund. Project manager at UiO is Professor Kirsten B. Holven. Professor Stine M. Ulven will be co-supervisor.
The appointment is valid for a period of 3 years. Startup as soon as possible, no later than 1 December 2017.
eligibility Requirements
It is desirable that the candidate has previous experience with clinical intervention studies, planning and recruitment, laboratory work, dietary registries and preferably experience with one or more of these methods: Isolation of white blood cells (PBMC), isolation of RNA, PCR, ELISA. Experience with "omics analyzes" and advanced statistical analyzes will be an advantage.
Candidates with knowledge of / experience with the specific subject area will be preferred.
Earlier scientific publications or manuscripts in nutrition research are emphasized.
