The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites application for the following
appointment in the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of

CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS
A clinical instructor is an experienced registered nurse (RN) who is trained and employed
by on a one-to-twelve supervision ratio.
• Discuss learning objectives and needs with students daily
• Negotiate students’ learning opportunities with the student and the ward RNs
• Teach, supervise, evaluate and assess students’ performance on the ward
• Monitor students’ attendance at clinical and organise students’ clinical practicum
replacement days in consultation with Administrator (Clinical) at ALCNS
• Encourage students to apply problem solving skills, critical thinking and reflection
• Ensure safety of both patients and students through appropriate assignment of
clinical responsibility and effective supervision
• Provide feedback to students on learning objectives and opportunities
• Assess that the student’s clinical performance is consistent with their stated
learning objectives in consultation with ward RNs
• Meet the immediate concerns and needs of students in the event of unforeseen
problems/incidents during the clinical practicum. Negotiate strategies to handle
difficulties/incidents as they arise
• Manage unsatisfactory or unsafe practice in collaboration with ALCNS clinical
liaison officer, in accordance with the ALCNS Student Policy for Student of Concern
Applicants must
Requirements:
1. have a Degree in Nursing;
2. be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR);
3. hold current registration with Singapore Nursing Board and
4. have a minimum of three years of post-registration experience working in
Singapore hospitals.
The Clinical Instructor will be employed full-time for blocks of 4 weeks and can be
employed for 2 consecutive blocks.
