Group Leader in Stem Cell Science

Senior Research Associate (£39,992-£50,618) or Principal Research Associate (£58,655) depending on skills and experience, plus a start-up package.

The Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is a world-leading centre for stem cell research with a mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem and progenitor cell biology (http://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk). In 2018 we will move into a new state of the art building adjacent to Addenbrooke's Hospital and multiple research institutes (http://cambridge-biomedical.com). This will result in a fully integrated, vibrant and cohesive stem cell community ideally placed to capitalise on the unique intellectual and clinical surrounding environment.

The Institute has openings for one or more Group Leaders who will complement and synergise with our existing programmes. We welcome applications from across the whole range of stem cell biology, with areas of particular interest including:

i. The interface between stem cell biology, physical, computational and materials sciences

ii. Cell and gene therapy

iii. Ageing of stem cells

This would be ideal for a candidate with post-doctoral experience, distinctive research achievements and a cutting edge research plan for the next 5 years. Interdisciplinary and collaborative research is strongly encouraged across the University and its associated institutes.

The Institute benefits from generous core funding from Wellcome and MRC. It offers a collegiate environment with excellent core facilities plus extensive opportunities to pursue basic and disease focused studies plus a generous start up package. Successful candidates will be supported to obtain external personal fellowship and grant support within 3 years.

Group Leaders are expected to apply for grant funding but in the first instance, funding supporting the post may be provided. This post is funded by research grants and, in the event that this funding should cease, the post may then be at risk of redundancy.

Informal enquiries about the post are welcome via email to sci-administrator@stemcells.cam.ac.uk

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
