Together our staff and students are discovering innovative ways to change the world for the better and there has never been a more exciting time for you to join us. We are one of the top universities worldwide and have an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We are led by discovery and innovation, with the synergy between research and learning at the core of our activity.

The Kidney Lifestyle Team (KLT) is a 20-strong multidisciplinary research group running a portfolio of clinical and laboratory studies investigating biomedical, clinical and psychosocial effects of lifestyle interventions in patients with chronic kidney disease, exploring the mechanisms underlying these effects, and developing and testing strategies for implementing interventions in clinical practice.

The primary purpose of this job is to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the laboratory analysis of clinical samples, which is a key part of our wider Kidney Lifestyle Research Programme (KLRP). In particular, the post holder will be responsible for lab analysis of muscle biopsy and blood samples collected from kidney patient participants in the multicentre Iron and Muscle Study.

You will have a background in biomedical sciences and evidence of theoretical knowledge and practical experience of a range of laboratory techniques such as immunoassay, flow cytometry, PCR, western blotting, electron microscopy, cell culture and HPLC.
