Assistant/Associate Professor Category Faculty Members College of Health Sciences College Health Sciences Department Medical Laboratory Sciences Job Purpose Assistant / Associate Professor at the department of medical laboratory sciences is sought to teach multiple theory and practical courses in the general area of cell biology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Main accountabilities & expectations Develop, update and teach courses in medical lab sciences with special emphasis on courses in cell biology Teach general courses such as biology, anatomy and physiology, pathology, etc. Mentor and supervise the research work of undergraduate and graduate students Start a productive externally-funded research program in their field of specialty/interest. Contribute to administrative tasks at the department, college and university as required by his/her superiors. Job Specific Accountabilities -- Required Skills -- Preferred Qualification & Experience The candidate should have a PhD in cellular/molecular biology or closely related field Postdoctoral training is a must. A BSc in medical laboratory sciences is a plus Demonstrable research productivity supported by visible publication record. Teaching experience in the general area of cell/molecular biology is required. Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential Job Location Competencies Expert knowledge in routine cellular and molecular techniques such as confocal microscopy, immunofluorescence studies, flow cytometry with working knowledge in common flow cytometry software (BD FACS Diva, FlowJo, etc.), gene-overexpressing and knockdown stable cell line protocols, PCR techniques, chromatin immunoprecipitation, etc. Certification in lab animal handling is an asset Evidence-based potential to supervise the research work of undergraduate and graduate students Excellent professional writing skills (research proposal, scientific monographs, scientific reports, etc.) Excellent communication & presentation skills and proficiency in English. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage class sessions with students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds Computer literacy. Familiarity with academic advising (undergraduate and/or graduate students) is a plus.
