Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Your responsibilities will include: developing new scientific techniques and experimental protocols; testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data from a variety of sources; developing ideas for generating research income through grant applications, and presenting detailed research proposals to senior researchers; collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters; and acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.
You will PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in a biological subject, ideally involving research using molecular biology techniques, together with relevant experience and will possess sufficient specialist knowledge of molecular biology to work within established research programmes. You will be able to manage your own academic research and associated activities, have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations and be able to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation. Excellent communication and analytical skills as well as knowledge of DNA amplification techniques (e.g. PCR) are also essential for this role.
This position is full-time and fixed-term for 1 year, with the likelihood of extension.
