Specific Qualifications

M.D. & Ph.D.

- Specialist of any department

- Preference to applicants who experienced to educate clinical practice for medical students


 

1. Academic Positions

 

* Applications of outstanding scholars are strongly encouraged regardless of academic openings.

 

* Applications of women and foreign nationals are encouraged.

 

2. General Qualifications

1) Applicants must have at least one year of research or teaching experience after obtaining a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

* Exceptions are noted in the table above and in 9) Additional Information below.

2) Applicants must be legally eligible to work at a private university in Korea.

3) Applicants must agree with the general Christian education principles espoused by Yonsei University.

4) A certain number of credit hours should be lectured in English


3. Required Documents

 

1) Two printed copies of completed online application form and one printed copy of "Statement of  Religious Affiliations"   [apply online]


2) Official diploma and transcripts (Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D.)

* Photocopies may be submitted at the time of application; but short-listed candidates for open lecture/interview must submit the official documents at the time of open lecture/interview.


3) Two printed copies of the list & summary of research publication(s)   [format download]

* For main achievements (up to three), please check "Main Achievement" in the list of research records


4) A USB or CD containing the list & the summary of research publications file above (in format attached)


5) A USB or CD containing the applicant's Ph.D. dissertation (PDF/MS-Word/HWP format)

* The 4) and 5) may be stored together in one USB or CD


6) A printed copy of each publication (or equivalent documentation for exhibitions and performances) published since March 2016 (College of Medicine: since January 2016 / College of Dentistry: since July 2015 / Graduate School of Public Health: since January 2016)

* Completed research that is in the process of being published may also be accepted as long as sufficient evidence of promissory receipt is provided.


7) Letters of recommendation (From two or more professors (professionals) in the same program or field)

* Among the required documents, only the letters of recommendation can be submitted by e-mail.

* The applicant's full name and the name of school/program the applicant is applying for must be specified in the letter.

* Recommendation letters for the clinical faculty position at the College of Medicine and Wonju College of Medicine must include descriptions of the applicants' clinical abilities (overall clinical experiences, medical recording capabilities, communication skills, etc.).

* When submitting the original recommendation letter by mail or in person: the recommender should seal the envelope and sign on the sealing line.

* When submitting the recommendation letter via E-mail: the recommender should submit the recommendation letter directly to the e-mail addresses below. The recommendation letter should be in an image format with recommender’s signature (i.e. PDF, JPG) (HWP or DOC format, which are subject to modification, will not be accepted.

* Applications may be submitted by mail, but must arrive at the office by 5:00 p.m. on July 5, 2019.

* Late applications will not be considered. Online application will not be available after July 5.

* School of Business: Applications accepted until August 30 (online application will not be available after July 5 - please contact the School of Business administration office for application after July 5).

6. Evaluation Criteria and Process

Stage 1) Suitability for the advertised major

: The applicant's suitability for the advertised position will be evaluated

Stage 2) Academic records and overall achievements

: The applicant's academic excellence, teaching or research abilities, publication records will be comprehensively evaluated during this process

Stage 3) Open lecture/interview

: Short-listed applicants will be invited for an open lecture and interview. Presentation skills, academic potentials and overall qualifications will be evaluated.


7. Notification

1) Candidates invited for an open lecture and interview will be personally contacted by e-mail at the end of August.

2) The final candidates will be contacted personally by e-mail at the end of November.


8. Things to Check Before Submitting Your Application:

2) Applicants are responsible for any false, deficient or incomplete documents.

9. Additional Information

1) The official appointment will begin in March, 2019 unless otherwise noticed.

2) Newly appointed tenure-track faculty members at Sinchon and International Campus will be given research grant according to their field of research for up to three years.

- Humanities, Social Sciences, Art, Music, or Physical Education: up to KRW 40,000,000

- Science & Engineering (Basic Sciences): up to KRW 100,000,000

- Science & Engineering (Applied Sciences): up to KRW 160,000,000

* Each College (or Graduate School) may have additional supporting programs for newly appointed tenure-track faculty members.

3) Newly appointed faculty members cooperating with POSTECH in research may be appointed as "Yonsei-POSTECH Cooperative Professor"

4) Multiple applications are accepted. However, application forms & documents must be submitted separately.

5) Non-Christians can apply.

6) Positions may be offered in tenure or non-tenure track depending on the evaluation results, unless otherwise noticed.

7) The final candidates may be assigned to take dual affiliation in related departments.

8) Positions at the Wonju College of Humanities and Arts, College of Government and Business, College of Science and Technology, College of Health Sciences, and Wonju College of Medicine will be employed at the Wonju Campus.

9) Newly appointed faculty members at the Wonju Campus are required to reside in Wonju.

10) Non-tenure track at Wonju Campus can be given the role of master professor as well as lectures.
