Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, St James’s Hospital, and Public Health Laboratory, HSE, DML, Cherry Orchard Hospital, seek to appoint an Associate Professor /Consultant Microbiologist. The post will have its main base in the Academic Department of Clinical Microbiology located at St James’s Hospital, but will also be accommodated in the Microbiology Department of St James’s Hospital and in the Public Health Laboratory, located in Cherry Orchard Hospital.
The successful applicant will have developed a research programme in Clinical Microbiology which is relevant to the activities of the departments in which s/he will be working and will be expected to provide leadership in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Discipline of Clinical Microbiology, which includes the Department’s Masters (MSc) in Healthcare Infection, in addition to clinical responsibilities. This post provides an exciting opportunity to lead in the development of the discipline in such areas as microbial genomics, antimicrobial resistance, opportunistic infections, and Public Health Microbiology.
The appointee will be able to avail of an outstanding environment for research and scholarly endeavour, and will be expected to engage with new research initiatives within the School of Medicine, and the Faculty of Health Sciences, and to collaborate with other researchers in Trinity College.
They will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources such as the Trinity Translational Medicine Institute (TTMI), TrinSeq (Next Generation Sequencing facility) , and Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI).
