Chaudhry group investigates amino acid transporters and metabolizing enzymes to elucidate their functional roles in neuronal signaling and in neuropathology such as epilepsy and dementia (See e.g. Qureshi et al., Cereb Cortex, 2019; Moen et al., Brain, 2016; Hamdani et al., Glia, 2012; Nissen-Meyer et al., J Neurosci, 2011). We use a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the molecular mechanisms involved in their function and regulation, and translate these findings to clinics.

The Institute of Basic Medical Sciences overall objective is to promote basic medical knowledge in order to understand normal processes, provide insight into mechanisms that cause illness, and promote good health. The Institute is responsible for teaching in basic medical sciences for the programmes of professional study in medicine and the Master's programme in clinical nutrition. The Institute has more than 300 employees and is located in Domus Medica.
