Position description


The  McGill  University  Faculty  of  Dentistry


is  a  dynamic  faculty  with  a  strong  record  of national and international leadership in the advancement of dental education, research and the profession.  We  are  inviting  applications  for  a Ranked  Contract  Academic  Faculty  Position at the level  of Faculty  lecturer, Assistant  Professor  or  Associate  Professor in  the  field of Pediatric Dentistry starting  in  the  Fall  term,  2019.This  is  a  Ranked  appointment  as  a member of the Contract Academic Staff and does not confer eligibility for tenure.


The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be didactic and clinical teaching, but research  and  community-oriented  responsibilities will also be expected,  commensurate  with the importance the Faculty places on these areas.


We seek to recruit well-rounded, enthusiastic individuals who champion Faculty vision, mission and  shared  values.  Candidates  must  be  committed  to  showing leadership  in pediatric social Dentistry.


Job Duties


Successful applicants will be expected to:

Teach  foundational  courses  in  Pediatric dentistry  at  the  DMD level and inresidency programs (lectures, pre-clinic, seminars).

Work  in  clinical  settings  in  the  Faculty  of  Dentistry’s  affiliated  clinics,  including community and outreach clinics.

Participate in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e. teaching, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).




Applicants must have a  D.M.D.  or  D.D.S. or  equivalent from  an  accredited  school  and  have successfully  completed  specialty  training  in  Pediatric  Dentistry  in  a  program  accredited  by  the Commission  on  Dental  Accreditation  of  Canada  or  the  Commission  on  Dental  Accreditation of the  United  States,  or  equivalent.  Applicants  must  be  eligible  to  be  licensed  by  the  Ordre  des dentistes  du  Quebec.  Having  a  PhD  in  Dentistry,  or  a  related  area,  is  an  asset.    In  accordance with career stage, candidates are expected to demonstrate evidence of recent clinical practice and  high  quality  teaching,  inclusive  pedagogy,  and  supervision  of  a  diverse  student  body. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
