These exciting positions result from a partnership between Bradford Institute of Health Research, the University of Bradford and the University of Leeds and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Recent successes have included the establishment of a Wolfson Centre for Applied Healthcare Research and a NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre. As a senior academic, as well as contributing to the mission of the Wolfson Centre for Applied Healthcare Research, you will also help us grow and develop capacity and capabilities at the University of Bradford to develop and deliver applied health research for patient benefit.

You will have the drive to work with a multidisciplinary team focusing on understanding inequalities in the health and development of young people, and seeking out the interventions which are most effective ways to address them. The post holder will work within the Wolfson Centre for Applied Healthcare Research with the opportunity to work closely with the Born in Bradford team whose current focus is to assess the determinants of childhood and adult disease and generate and test hypotheses that have the potential to improve health for the most disadvantaged within our society. There is a particular focus on ethnic differences, reflecting the make-up of the Born in Bradford cohort. You will have a clinical, health or social science background, for example healthcare practitioner, sociology, anthropology, social policy, psychology, medicine.

We particularly welcome applications from women and under-represented groups. The posts may be considered for job-share. Clinically qualified applicants will have a time allowance provided so that the postholder can hold honorary clinical contract to maintain registration. The post can be provided as a fractional appointment to allow the postholder to maintain paid clinical practice or other paid roles.Salary is based on the Reader (Grade 10) or Professorial scale (Grade 11/12) and is negotiable.
