We are seeking to appoint a research assistant to join the Digital Innovations in Healthcare and Education (DICE) research group and the Health e-learning and Media (HELM) team within the School of Health Sciences, University of Nottingham.

The DICE research group and the HELM team comprises academics and learning technologists and have an international reputation for e-learning development and research in healthcare education and practice.

The DICE research group work spans a number of intertwining themes engaging with a range of multidisciplinary experts, including healthcare professionals, psychologists, computer scientists and the HELM team. The themes include: healthcare workforce skills and training; online pedagogy and design; technology in healthcare interventions; the world of data in healthcare and education; exergames and the gamification of health.

The HELM team provides an important service within the School developing and delivering high-quality and high-volume e-learning provision to all staff and students and work with a range of stakeholders both inside and outside of the School. The team has an excellent reputation as a provider of open healthcare resources and has an ethos of sharing and collaboration.

The HELM team deliver a diverse set of projects including externally-funded project work. The role holder has the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities and to participate in whole team projects.

The successful candidate will assist in the management and research activities on a number of related EU funded international development and research projects involving the use of innovative technologies in medical and healthcare education. An element of the role will involve advising and contributing to training in online pedagogy and use of technology in education and healthcare interventions. The successful applicant is expected to travel regularly to project meetings and events in EU and Malaysia, and contribute to the preparation of project results and reports.

Candidates must have an MSc or equivalent in Medical/Health Science Education/Learning Technology/Computer Science/Medical or Health Informatics/Educational Technology OR proved experience on working on digital innovation in healthcare education research projects.

They should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media. The positions are full-time (36.25 hours per week) and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 18 months. However, applications are welcome from candidates who wish to work part time (minimum 29 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
