Funded by the Health Foundation, The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute (THIS Institute) has a remit to advance research into how to improve the quality and safety of patient care. The institute hosts around 60 staff consisting of academics, operational and communications staff and visiting research fellows. THIS Institute's portfolio of studies ranges from small-scale qualitative work through to large-scale national studies, with a common goal of providing clarity on what works in improving healthcare, what doesn't, and why. Our highly inclusive approach combines academic rigour with the real concerns of patients and healthcare staff. We bring people together to understand problems, create shared visions, co-design solutions, and evaluate them. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant who will assist the research team in the collection and analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative data, the conduct of literature reviews, and the preparation of data summaries. Contribution to publications will be encouraged. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of studies relating to healthcare improvement covering primary, acute and mental health care. The successful candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant social or health science or related field or have equivalent practical experience. They will have a good knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods and techniques, and excellent communication skills. The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
